Prof. Peter Hennicke is an opinion leader in the field of sustainable energy systems research in Germany. His work covers more than 200 papers and books mainly regarding a green energy economy as well as energy and climate policy.
After his studies of Chemistry and Economics, he was active in applied research and taught in the field of energy management as well as environmental, economic and development policy. From 2000 to 2008, Peter served as President of the Wuppertal Institute. Today he works as a freelancer on several energy projects, partly in cooperation with the Wuppertal Institute. In 2015, he was guest professor at the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics at Lund University. He is member of various national and international advisory boards and committees (e.g. Management Board member of the European Environment Agency). For his research on energy transition and energy efficiency, Peter was awarded with the German Environment Award (2014) and the Swedish Gothenburg Award for Sustainable Development (2015).
