World Resources Forum 2023

World Resources Forum 2023
4-6 September 2023
In-person, Online

The Club of Rome is an organising partner of this year’s World Resources Forum in Geneva. WRF’23 ‘Rethinking Value – Resources for Planetary Wellbeing’ is hosted by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment and is organised back-to-back with the UNEP Global Intergovernmental Meeting on Minerals and Metals.

Following previous editions which engaged over 15,000 participants from across the world, this year’s forum puts global resource use at the core of a systemic change, calling for a collaborative strategy to respond to the triple planetary crisis and deliver wellbeing for all within planetary boundaries. International stakeholders from policy, industry, research and civil society will come together to discuss challenges and solutions across three main conference tracks: sufficiency, value chains and digitalisation.

Panel Debate: ‘Sufficiency: From a consumer to a sufficient society

Tuesday, 5 September 09:00-10:30 CET

The concept of sufficiency has been receiving renewed attention as an effective, if not indispensable, climate change mitigation strategy. However, it still remains a misunderstood and marginal concept, especially in policy and business environments. Can sufficiency become a powerful driver for innovative and equitable ways to deliver wellbeing for all, within planetary boundaries?

Speakers include Club of Rome vice-president, Carlos Alvarez-Pereira, and members of The Club of Rome Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker and Lewis Akenji.
