The Slovenian Association for the Club of Rome and the Centre for Professors Emeriti and Retired Higher Education Teachers of the University of Maribor are organising an introductory presentation of the book Earth for All: A Survival Guide for Humanity, in collaboration with The Club of Rome and Earth4All.

The book presents the results of a two-year research project, the outcome of a collaboration between the Earth4All Transformational Economics Commission and a system dynamics modelling team. Their findings were published in September 2022 in the form of a book, a survival guide to help humanity avert ecological and social catastrophe.

The book explores two scenarios beginning in 1980 and ending in 2100. These scenarios entitled “Too little, Too late” and “Giant Leap” explore how population, economies, resource use, pollution, wellbeing and social tensions might change this century based on decisions made this decade. The Giant Leap scenario is achievable if societies adopt unprecedented and immediate action across five interconnected turnarounds: poverty, inequality, empowerment, food, and energy.

Event programme:

  • Introduction by the organisers: Slovenian Association for the Club of Rome in Centre for Professors Emeriti and Retired Higher Education Teachers of the University of Maribor
  • Presentation of the book and the Earth4All initiative by Anders Wijkman, contributing author
  • Holistic, participatory and systems thinking and innovation for sustainability in Slovenia, by Slovenian actors
  • Discussion with Anders Wijkman about the implementation of the Giant Leap scenario in Slovenia
