Young person’s guide to storytelling

Published 2025 – The Young person’s guide to storytelling from The 50 Percent (a platform for young leaders supported by The Fifth Element and the Club of Rome) is a practical and accessible guide that helps young people understand how storytelling can counter misinformation and strengthen democratic culture.

Drawing on insights from research and the lived experience of young leaders, it shows how narratives grounded in shared values can reduce division, rebuild trust and support more constructive public dialogue.

The guide explains how authentic voices, especially those of young people, can connect across differences and create space for empathy. It offers clear principles for shaping stories that make hope tangible, highlight real examples of collective action and invite people back into conversations they may feel excluded from.

By focusing on agency and community connection, the guide equips young changemakers with tools to craft narratives that inspire participation, bridge polarisation and support a more resilient future.
