Prof. Esko Kalimo is a sociologist and social scientist. He became concerned with the sustainability problems of our planet through his devotion to preventing risks in human life and promoting social security. Having a keen interest in cross-national comparisons, the orientation in his work deals with the integration of different sciences in long-term thinking about safe future.
Esko’ s collaboration with the Club of Rome started in 1984, when he was invited to contribute to the Annual Conference of Club in Helsinki, after which he was instrumental in the establishment and management of the Finnish Association for the Club of Rome until 2000. As a member of the Club of Rome since 1999, he served as the president of the European Research Centre of the Club during 1999-2009.
