Weiler, Raoul

Prof. Raoul Weiler is Professor Emeritus of the Faculty of Bio-engineering Sciences at the University of Leuven, Belgium. His industrial career started in a chemical multinational in Germany in the Department of Applied Physics as a researcher and process engineer and ended, in Belgium, as ICT manager. Thereafter, he held teaching positions about the Socio-ethical Aspects of Technology at different universities in Belgium.

He was President of the Royal Society of Flemish Engineers, Founding President of the EU-Chapter of the Club of Rome in Brussels, Member of the Executive Committee of the Club of Rome International, Vice President of the European Academy for Sciences and Arts in Salzburg, Co-founder of the International Expert Group on Earth System Preservation in Munich. He was also Member of the Wikimedia Advisory Board and of the Comité de Pilotage, Division de l’éthique des sciences et des technologies, of UNESCO.
