Prof. Pekka Himanen is a Finnish philosopher and researcher of the information age. After obtaining his PhD in Philosophy at the University of Helsinki as the youngest doctor ever in Finland at the age of 20, Himanen moved to carry out research first at Stanford University (UK) and the University of California, Berkeley (USA). Currently, Pekka divides his time between being a professor at the University of Art and Design Helsinki, a visiting professor at the Oxford University, a visiting professor at the IN3 Institute in Barcelona, and a principal scientist at the Helsinki Institute for Information Technology.
Pekka has authored and co-authored several books, among which “The Information Society and the Welfare State” (Oxford University Press, 2002), which has been discussed worldwide in the leading academic and political circles.
