Pavel Nováček is an expert on global environmental issues, sustainable development and foresight. He was one of the founders of the study program “International Development Studies”. Since 2007, he has been the head of the Department of Development Studies at the Palacký University. Pavel is also a member of the Planning Committee of the Millennium Project (Washington, D.C.), and President of the Czech Association of the Club of Rome.
In the course of studying global environmental issues, Pavel has visited over 80 countries across five continents and written a number of scholarly as well as popular books such as “Global Partnership for Development” (with Peter Mederly, 2002), “Marshall Plan for Haiti” (with Peter Mederly & Pierre Armand, 2008), and “Sustainable Development or Collapse, Regeneration and Transformation?” (2015).
Pavel earned his habilitation in Environmental Studies at the Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. He now lives with his wife Helena and children Petra, Jan, and Veronika in Olomouc (Czech Republic).
