AtKisson, Alan



Alan AtKisson is Director of Partnership & Innovation and Assistant Director-General at Sida – the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency.
Prior to joining Sida, he worked for many years as a senior strategic advisor, author, and speaker in the field of sustainable development (since 1988). He advised governments, companies, NGOs, and the United Nations. He was inducted into the International Sustainability Hall of Fame in 2013 for his many contributions to the field, including the development of widely used tools and methods for sustainability teaching, planning, and reporting.

Alan has written bestselling books in the field (Believing Cassandra, Sustainability is for Everyone); co-created businesses and non-profit initiatives (Sustainable Seattle, Center for Sustainability Transformation, 17Goals.org); and trained over 2,000 professionals around the world. In addition to his professional work, Alan is also a professional singer/songwriter and recording artist whose music was featured by the United Nations in connection with the Paris climate summit in 2015, and has also been widely adopted for promotion of the SDGs.

He lives in Stockholm, Sweden.
