Former Vice President for Sustainable Development of the World Bank. In 1998 Ian Johnson was appointed as the World Bank's Vice President for Sustainable Development, where he oversaw the Bank's work on environmental management, natural resource management, agriculture and rural development, social policy and post-conflict.
In this role he also serves as Chairman of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) since July 2000.
