II. TOWARDS A NEW ECONOMY

Current economic theory and practice is outdated and does not serve the needs of a future constrained by limits to natural capital, fraught with declining social capital, and increasing unemployment. A change is urgently needed that provides for a human centric economics where real values to society are reflected fully in economic and policy decisions. The work programme, inter alia, focuses on both theoretical and applied economics and addresses the following issues and questions:

  • Natural Resources, Climate Change and Limits
  • Green Growth and Employment
  • Real Values and their Role in Economics.
  • Economic Growth, Real Wealth Creation and Equity
  • “Uneconomic Growth”
  • Applying Steady State Economics to the Real World
  • Economics for New Markets
  • New Consumption and Production Paradigms
  • Economics, Resiliency and Risk Management
