Riane Eisler, JD is President of the Center for Partnership Studies and consults for business and governments on applications of the partnership model introduced in her work. She is internationally known for her groundbreaking contributions as a systems scientist, attorney working for human rights, and author of The Chalice and the Blade: Our History, Our Future (Harper & Row, 1988), now in 25 foreign editions, and The Real Wealth of Nations: Creating a Caring Economics (Berrett-Koehler, 2008).

 

She is an international advocate for human rights, and has pioneered the inclusion of women’s rights and children’s rights in both human rights theory and action. She is the author of five other books and has contributed to over 75 books and published over 300 articles, papers, essays, and encyclopedia entries.

 

Born in Vienna, Austria, she grew up in Habana, Cuba, and was primarily educated in the U.S., obtaining degrees in sociology and law from UCLA. She taught at UCLA and other universities and has spoken at numerous platforms, from the United Nations General Assembly to universities and corporations, and keynotes conferences worldwide. She serves on many boards and councils, including the World Future Council and the Global Council of the International Museum of Women; is a fellow of international groups such as the World Academy of Art and Science; founded the Caring Economy Campaign; and co-founded the Spiritual Alliance to Stop Intimate Violence with Nobel Peace Laureate Betty Williams. Dr. Eisler has received many honors, including honorary Ph.D. degrees and the Nuclear Age Peace Foundation’s 2009 Distinguished Peace Leadership Award.
