Dr. Bozesan is currently the President& Founder of AQALInvesting, a family office and a UN PRI signatory. Dr. Bozesan is also a Research Fellow at the Humboldt-Viadrina School of Governance.
She has been an integral Venture Capitalist since 1995 and invests in high-tech, clean-tech, biotech, and medical devices. She is one of the initial investors in CyberNet,the first publicly traded Internet company in Germany. To her more recent investments belong the first German energy Demand Response aggregator, Entelios, BioCee, a US-based industrial biotech company, and Penumbra, an Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) market leader. Mariana was also an early member of the Angels Forum in Palo Alto and the Munich Business Angel Networkin Munich. She has invested in Business Angels and VC Funds in Silicon Valley and Europe, including The Halo Fund in Palo Alto and EarlyBird Venture Capital in Munich.
She is Advisory Board Member of Ethical Markets, the Sustainabilty Labs, MetaIntegral, and The Halo Impact Fund in Palo Alto. As a serial entrepreneur, Mariana isthe founder of SageEra Institute LLC, Infobahn Romania SRL, and co-founder of Infobahn International GmbH. Prior to Infobahn,Dr. Bozesanheld executive positions at Oracle Corporation, Digital Equipment Corporation, now Hewlett-Packard, and IntelliCorp, an AI pioneer. As a Venture Philanthropist, Mariana is involved with several social impact organizations. She is member of the Board of Directors (BoD=Vorstand) of Ver.de and Advisory Board member (Wirtschaftsrat) of the German Environmental Foundation (Deutsche Umweltstiftung).
Moreover, she is a Founders’ Council member of The Chopra Foundation, an Advisory Board member of The Spiritual Alliance to Stop Intimate Violence (SAIV),and the International Foundation for Science and Technology (iFEST). She is also a former BoD member of The International Museum of Women in San Francisco. Since 1979, she has been the President and Founder of The Bozesan Foundation that supports more than 38 humanitarian organizations worldwide. Educated at Stanford University and KIT (Karlsruhe Institute of Technology) in Germany, Dr. Bozesan holds a Masters of Science (M.S.) degree in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Science from KIT. Mariana received her Ph.D. in Psychology from the ITP in Palo Alto, California. Being of half German heritage, she was born and raised in Romania and is at home in the world. She is happily married and lives with her family in Germany.
